Current Highlights

In February 2012, the Meritilga Prospect was the focus of a 20-hole RC program at the Condobolin Project, following its definition in late 2011 by a 3D Induced Polarisation (IP) survey and a regional soil sampling program (2km x 2km arsenic-lead-zinc (+gold) anomaly).

Drilling at the Meritilga Prospect was very successful. A high-grade gold shoot has been hit in hole CORC029, which intersected:

  • 4m @ 20 g/t Gold, 0.26% Copper, 30.2 g/t Silver (from 75m, CORC029) including:
    • 1m @ 62 g/t Gold, 60 g/t Silver (from 76m)

The high-grade shoot is open at depth and along strike to the south.

The high grade shoot occurs adjacent to broad zones of gold, copper and silver:

  • 31m @ 0.4 g/t Gold, 0.18% Copper, 16 g/t Silver (from 34m, CORC027) including:
    • 11m @ 0.8 g/t Gold, 0.5% Copper, 19.5 g/t Silver (from 52m)
  • 18m @ 0.33 g/t Gold, 0.6% Copper, 8.2 g/t Silver (from 60m, CORC026)

The mineralisation is associated with the previously untested Meritilga Fault Zone.The Meritilga Fault Zone has a strike length of 1km, much of it remains untested.

Very encouraging grades of lead-silver-zinc were also intersected at the Potters prospect, including extensions to the lode below old workings:

  • 11m @ 1.5% Lead, 0.58% Zinc, 17.68 g/t Silver (from 48m, CORC023) including:
    • 2m @ 7.1% Lead, 2.4% Zinc, 83.5 g/t Silver (from 51m)
  • 10m @ 1.79% Zinc, 1.23% Lead, 12.9 g/t Silver (from 136m, CORC022) including:
    • 4m @ 4.1% Zinc, 2.87% Lead, 29.6 g/t Silver (from 136m)

The gold lode at the Phoenix prospect has been widened to 30m with 9m @ 1.08 g/t Gold, 4.8 g/t Silver, 0.74% Zinc, 0.17% Lead intersected in CORC024 (from 83m).

Project Description 

The Condobolin project is located just north of the township of Condobolin, in central NSW. The geology is dominated by highly deformed metasediments (slates, phyllites and quartzose sandstones) inferred to be of the Ordovician Girilambone Group. Geophysical interpretation of the area also indicates the potential for high-level post-Ordovician intrusives. Large, regional-scale faulting, possibly related to the Gilmore Suture Zone to the west, is also present throughout the Condobolin area.

Clancy is targeting two styles of mineralisation at Condobolin: narrow structurally-hosted high grade gold-base metals and epithermal gold-copper.

The Condobolin project area contains several historic workings, which were mined for gold, copper, silver, lead and zinc in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. Mullock samples reveal crustiform banding and colloform textures in quartz veins with sulphides, which are ‘classic’ epithermal features. These occurrences cross the area in a general north-east oriented trend, indicating probable regional structural control on mineralisation. Twelve rock chip samples were collected from mullock around the historic workings in October 2010. Sulphide mineralisation is present in epithermal textured veins at all prospects. High-grade gold, copper and zinc results were returned with 7 of the 12 samples assaying >5g/t gold and 2 assaying >5% copper with a maximum values of 26g/t gold and 8.53% copper respectively. One sample assayed 25.3% zinc.

Records from the old mines have shown that many ceased production due to ingress of water to high levels before ore had run out. Therefore, there is potential at several prospects for depth and strike extension of the rich orebodies mined by the old timers.
